From the 2nd of August, you can attend a local Javea festival called the “Virgen de los Angeles” at the Monastery La Mare de Déu dels Àngeles.
The festival centres around a local monastery built in 1962 on the foundation of an old sanctuary, where the revered painting of “La Virgen de los Ángeles” was found.
Every 2nd of August, on the feast day of the Virgen de los Ángeles, the cherished canvas is carried through the streets of Las Planas. Javea locals and international visitors come together to celebrate the Festes de la Mare de Deu dels Angels (Festivals of Our Lady of the Angels) with great enthusiasm and reverence.
Traditionally, this time of year saw many homes in La Plana filled with friends and family members who gathered to celebrate these festive events.
The festival program includes the celebration of Mass, a grand procession, and, of course, plenty of entertainment and dancing.
