While there aren’t any zoos directly in Javea, there are two amazing options in Benidorm, about an hour’s drive away which make for fantastic days trips from Javea. There is one safari zoo, as well as one aquatic zoo to choose from.
You’ll find some the best zoos in the area, including:
- Terra Natura Benidorm
- Mundomar Benidorm

Terra Natura Benidorm
Terra Natura is a huge wildlife park, full of exotic animals and beautiful themed landscapes. Visitors can see about 1500 animals representing 200 species in the park. The zoo lets you see animals closely with barriers invisible to the human eye. It’s a brilliant day out for a family with children.
Terra Natura is open every day for the summer season and throughout the year!
The park is open from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
Terra Natura Park is absolutely huge, with 79 acres of land to explore. The park is divided into four themed zones, each offering a unique experience:
- America: Discover the rich biodiversity of the American continent, which contains both predators and prey. Expect to see colourful birds including chachalacas, toucans, parakeets and more. You’ll get up and close with jaguars and ocelots.
- Pangea: The mysterious and exotic land of poisonous creatures, you’ll find snakes including Green tree Pythons, Vipers, and Rattlesnakes. There are also Scorpions and Poisonous Frogs.
- Asia: Explore the habitats and animals of Asia, including Rhinos, Tigers, Asian Elephants, Lions, and the Siamang.
At Terra Natura, you’ll find incredible shows, educational exhibits, and up-close animal encounters. There are lots of information points to read to teach you about the species you see. It’s a great day out, whether with family or friends.
Where is Terra Natura?
Terra Natura is located on the outskirts of Benidorm, which is roughly a 50-minute drive from Javea.
Terra Natura’s Best Attractions
- Birds of Prey Show: Witness majestic birds of prey including tawny owls, crows, hawks, vultures, eagles and a stork. The show runs from 12pm until 5pm, on Tuesdays all through the week till Sunday.
- Elephant Education: A guided visit where you’ll learn about the gentle giants of the animal kingdom and their conservation. It costs 20 euros per person.

Mundomar Benidorm
Mundomar is a fascinating aquatic zoo, where you can explore the wonders of marine life and other aquatic animals.
Note: Mundomar is open every day for the summer season, which lasts until September 8th, 2024.
The park is open from 10:00am – 7:00pm during the summer season. During the Autumn period, the park is open from 10:00am – 6:00pm
The park features a variety of areas, each offering unique experiences:
- Dolphinarium: Home to Mundomar’s playful dolphins.
- Aviary: A vibrant area with a variety of bird species, including penguins, flamingoes, macaws, storks, and parakeets.
- Turtle Beach: Learn about and observe these gentle marine creatures.
At Mundomar, you’ll find amazing shows, interactive experiences, and educational exhibits. It’s an unforgettable day out for everyone.

Mundomar is located on the outskirts of Benidorm, which is roughly a 55-minute drive from Javea.

- Dolphin Show: Enjoy a captivating show featuring dolphins performing incredible tricks and stunts. At their spectacular shows, you will see acrobatics, incredible jumps all in sync with music. It’s a beautiful performance that is wonderful for all to see. There are two shows a day, one at 1.30pm and the other at 4.30pm.
- Sea Lion Show: Watch the entertaining and educational performances by the sea lions. There are two shows a day, one at 12.45pm and the other at 5.45pm.
- Parrot Show: Be amazed by the colourful and talented birds as they showcase their skills and abilities. There are three shows a day, one at 11.15am, another at 2.30pm and the other at 3.30pm.
- Interactive Experiences: Get up close and personal with some of the animals through various interactive programs, such as swimming with Sea lions and dolphins.
