Vegan Restaurants in Jávea Spain: A Complete Guide

by Caitlin

About a decade ago, it was extremely difficult to find vegan restaurants in Javea, or those that even understand veganism, let alone cater to it. Thankfully, over the years, Javea has seen many more restaurants provide vegan food items or even build out fully vegan restaurants. Until recently, there was a fully vegan restaurant called V-thos, which has sadly closed down.

When visiting any of the main areas in Javea, you’ll find delicious vegan options in most restaurants.

I’ve created a list of the best vegan restaurants in Jávea and will work to keep this list updated. These restaurants are also cross-referenced against review platforms including Happy Cow, TripAdvisor and Google Maps to make sure that restaurants are still catering to vegans with a high quality of service! Some of these restaurants have also appeared on our best restaurants in Javea guide too.

We’ve also created another guide on Michelin-starred restaurants in Javea, if you prefer something more special – I would recommend reaching out to the restaurant in advance to see if they can cater for vegans.

Here are the top vegan restaurants in Jávea. Scroll down to read our reviews of each:

  • Carnaval Javea – best for vegan sushi and burgers
  • Royal Gurkha Cuisine – best for vegan curries and authentic Nepalese/Indian food
  • Chihiro Ramen – best for vegan ramen bowls
  • Monsoon Thai – best for authentic vegan thai food
  • Woody’s Pretty Healthy Kitchen – best for delicious and fresh breakfasts and brunch

Carnaval

Carnaval is a Asian and Mexican fusion restaurant located on the Arenal Beach.

Carnaval was one of the very first places in Javea to build out a vegan food menu, which was an absolute hit. They offer plenty of options, from sushi, tapas and large plate with a mix of burgers, stir fries, wraps and curries.

Personally, I recommend their homemade vegan burger is an absolute must-try, as well as their poke bowl. Each sushi dish is labelled with spiciness levels to help you decide which to pick.

Royal Gurkha Cuisine

Royal Gurkha Cuisine offers a diverse menu that includes Indian, Asian, Himalayan, and Nepalese dishes. They have a large menu which clearly labels meat dishes and vegetable dishes. They are based in the Javea port.

The menu includes a range of vegetarian dishes that can be easily adapted to be vegan. Popular choices include vegetable curries, dal (lentil soup), and various vegetable-based dishes prepared with traditional Nepalese and Indian spices.

You can ask the staff for any assistance in selecting vegan options in the menu and they should try their best to cater for you.

Royal Gurkha Cuisine is open until midnight, providing ample opportunity for both lunch and dinner visits.

Chihiro Ramen

Chihiro Ramen is a ramen restaurant located on the Arenal at Calle San Rafael 1 street, They offer a welcoming atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating options, and even a robot cat waiter to serve you your dishes.

They offer a vegan ramen bowl, which includes a rich, flavorful broth made from vegetables and miso, accompanied by fresh vegetables, tofu, and vegan noodles.

Other main menu vegan options include the traditional Korean Bibimbap and the Miso Ramen with Kimchi (ask the staff for a vegan option as usually comes with an egg)

Chihiro Ramen is open from Tuesday to Sunday, with lunch hours from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM and dinner hours from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Monsoon Thai

Monsoon Thai is a beachside restaurant in Javea between the Port and the Arenal, that offers a Thai dining experience with options for vegan diners.

While they do serve meat dishes, their menu is considered vegetarian-friendly and vegan-friendly, with gluten-free options available as well. They serve a variety of Asian and Thai dishes that can be adapted to suit vegan preferences.

As the items are not marked on the menu, you can ask to modify the majority of their dishes to be plant-based.  They offer choices of tofu, tempeh, or vegetables as protein alternatives in many of their menu items.

Monsoon Thai is open for both lunch and dinner, operating from 1 to 4 PM and 7 to 11 PM, though it’s closed on Wednesdays. They even have yoga sessions in the morning!

Woody’s – Pretty Healthy Kitchen

Woody’s is loved as a breakfast spot among the Javea locals. They specialise in healthy, nutritious cuisine. Their menu is filled with a variety of healthy breakfasts, smoothies, and lunch items that cater to plant-based diets – I highly recommend visiting for brunch!

Try the açai bowl and the summer goodness bowl which is full of fresh fruits and coconut milk. They have other breakfast bowls which may be able to be modified with vegan ingredients – just ask the staff. Their smoothies are fresh and absolutely delicious.

Woody’s is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, making it an ideal spot for breakfast or lunch.
