Winetasting near Javea, Spain

by Caitlin

While Javea may not be widely known for its wine, it harbours a thriving wine industry, particularly celebrated for its Muscatel and vermouth varieties. Javea’s many vineyards benefit from a unique combination of favorable climate, rich soil, diverse topography, and historical significance, making it an ideal location for grape cultivation. There are also plenty of wine shops dotted around the areas where you can buy local wines.

If you have a group of friends who love wine, visiting a vineyard to learn about the winemaking process, with sampling wines should be high up on your things to do in Javea!

I’ve added a list of some of the best wineries you can visit in the Javea area where you can sample the fruit of their harvests, with some wineries further afoot getting a special mention too and worth visiting. As always, please drink responsibly, have a designated driver who can get you back safely, or order a Javea taxi to take you home!

Upon visiting Les Freses, you’ll receive a guided visit through the local vineyards where they’ll explain the start of the winemaking process. You’ll then visit their wine cellar, and will taste three wines paired with traditional tapas from Marina Alta.
